A video, which was shared on social media and news websites, was claimed to show a man who was shot because they fired the gun into the air during the celebrations for his returning home after his treatment for Covid-19. The claim got more than 4,000 likes on Facebook and was mentioned in news websites such as Yeniçağ.
When we search the video by the reverse visual search method, we can find it on different news websites. In the news and posts in Arabic, it is stated that the person in the video is Sari Salem Wardat and was shot in the head due to the gun fired into the air during the celebration after his early release from prison.
When we search for keywords about the video, IHA, Al Jazeera and local news websitesreport that it occurred in Jordan and the person just got out of the prison.
According to the news on 18 April by Al Jaazera, Wardat got out of prison since he was one of the prisoners released early due to the measures taken for COVID-19 in Jordan. During the celebration organized for his return in the street, he was shot in the head by the gun of his relative and died.
Jordan announced its first coronavirus case on 2 March 2020. By 21 April 2020, the total number of cases is 428. 298 of them were healed and 7 people passed away. Since 21 March, they have imposed a curfew.
In conclusion, the claim is not true. The person in the video is not a recovering Covid-19 patient but a prisoner released. The post in question is an example of a false connection.
