According to an allegation shared on social media and sent to teyit.org as a notice, Öztürk Yılmaz, Deputy Chairman and Ardahan deputy of the main opposition party CHP, gave a speech before the U.S flag and commented on the referendum and the “No” campaign.
CHP’s Deputy Chairman and Ardahan deputy Öztürk Yılmaz and Istanbul deputy Oğuz Kağan Salıcı, along with Yurter Özcan, CHP’s representative to the United States, attended to an event at New York University School of Law on March 20. Speaking at the event titled “Meeting for Republic”, Yılmaz talked about the referendum process.
It was claimed that there was a U.S. flag just behind the platform in the photo taken during Yılmaz’s speech. However the image with the U.S. flag is a montage.
In the original version of the montaged image, it is seen that there is a Turkish flag behind the platform where Ozturk Yılmaz is giving his speech.
